PREVENTION

Acute Bronchitis

AcuteBronchitis
Naturally, prevention of bronchitis is far better than suffering and curing it. So how do you go about reducing your chances of getting bronchitis?

As bronchitis is of several types, several strategies are necessary. If you find yourself exhibiting the early symptoms of bronchitis, visit your doctor. If the cause is bacteria, he'll prescribe antibiotics which will hopefully prevent the bronchitis from developing. If a virus is to blame, you'll have to wait it out. Meanwhile, here are some simple precautions you can take.

The first thing you have to understand is that pathogenic bronchitis is an infectious disease. Whenever a sufferer coughs, he releases bacteria and or viri into the surrounding atmosphere. Or if he coughs into his hand, he transmits the pathogen onto his hand. So you need to be vigilant for the presence of infections, especially in the winter.

Acute bronchitis often follows on from a cold or the flu. So if you find yourself coming down with one of these, you need to take good care of yourself to keep the infection from spreading down into your lungs.

As for chronic bronchitis, you need to remove the source of the irritant that causes it. If the culprit is smoking, then the solution is obvious. Otherwise, the solution can involve installing an air purifier and/or humidifier. If your bronchitis is caused by airborne allergens, then there may be nothing else you can do other than change your environment. This is true too if your bronchitis is caused by chemicals at your place of work.
